Fly-Fishing
As one of Marabou’s Fly Fishing Master Guides, Steve’s 40 plus
years of experience and passion for the sport can be attributed to his father, world-famous fly fisherman Red
Herter. Steve thrives off of sharing his vision, skills and love for the outdoors with Marabou Residents.
Steve recalls the first time he witnessed his father taking part in what he refers to as "an act of rebellion
against the sophistication of the West:"
“To this day, 49 years later, my heart quickens with the memory, the overwhelming magnificence of it… the early
morning sun, impossibly long loops of line, the suspense, the leaping trout to fly, the perfect swift loops of
back and forth perfection. I’ve never told anyone how often I’ve gone back along the little path of
memory to again and again watch that astounding scene, to thrill at the sight of my hero -- father in his most glorious
secret world, how this was one of my earliest memories and how much of it I still feel...”
